Methodology
Every number on OpenStocks comes from a public, checkable source. This page says exactly how each metric is computed, what it includes, and — just as important — what it doesn't. If you cite our data, cite this page with it.
The registry
Assets and token deployments are compiled from issuer-published sources: the xStocks public API, Ondo's official token list, Robinhood's on-chain asset registry, the solana-foundation token registry, and hand-verified contract addresses for issuers without programmatic lists (verified against block explorers and live DEX pools). Deployments we can confirm exist but whose addresses aren't published are shown as "address not published" rather than guessed. The registry refreshes automatically; the latest update time is embedded in every API response.
Prices & premium vs. underlying
Onchain prices, 24h volume, and DEX liquidity come from public DEX data (GeckoTerminal). The underlying equity price comes from Yahoo Finance and reflects the last listed-market price — which means premium/discount readings taken while NASDAQ/NYSE are closed compare onchain prices to the last close, and naturally widen on weekends. We display them anyway because that gap is real information about where onchain price discovery sits; interpret them with market hours in mind.
TVL
"Onchain TVL" for a token approximates its circulating value: reported market cap (or FDV where market cap is unavailable) of the wrapper token — supply × price. For fully backed wrappers this tracks the value of shares held against the tokens. It is not DeFi-locked value, and aggregate figures cover the tracked subset stated on the page (currently the top assets by deployment count), not the entire universe. App-custodied tokens with no DEX footprint (e.g. Robinhood's EU classic tokens) are not included in TVL.
Volume — read this before quoting it
24h volume is raw DEX trading volume. It is not wash-filtered: it includes arbitrage, MEV, and market-maker flow alongside organic trading, and evidence from our own arbitrage scanner suggests bot-driven flow is a substantial share. Treat volume as a measure of market activity, not of organic demand. We prefer publishing the raw number with this caveat over publishing a filtered number whose filter we can't defend.
Holders
Holder counts are wallet counts, not people. Solana counts are token accounts with a non-zero balance, read directly from the chain; EVM counts come from public Blockscout explorers. One person can hold in many wallets; exchanges custody many people in one wallet; dust and airdrop wallets are included. BNB Chain holder counts are currently unavailable (no free public indexer) and shown as "—" rather than estimated. Cross-venue totals sum wallets per venue and may double-count people holding on multiple venues.
Quotes, spreads & the arbitrage scanner
Best-execution quotes are live, executable quotes from Relay at the stated notional, inclusive of routing fees and price impact. Arbitrage "net spread" is bid minus ask across two venues at that size — it excludes inventory risk, settlement timing between chains, and issuer basis (different issuers' tokens are different instruments). Cross-issuer pairs are inventory trades, not atomic arbitrage. Spreads decay in minutes; nothing on this site is investment advice.
Corrections
Found a number that's wrong or a deployment we're missing? The registry sources are listed in the API docs; corrections land in the next refresh cycle. We'd rather fix a number than defend it.
